Raw wildflower honey is one of those ingredients that quietly makes almost everything better, but it's easy to fall into a routine of only using it in your coffee or tea. Here are a few ways to get more out of your jar of Local Wildflower Honey.
1. Drizzle it over cheese. A soft cheese like brie or goat cheese paired with a spoonful of raw honey is an easy way to turn a simple snack into something that feels a little fancier. The floral notes in wildflower honey work especially well against something salty or tangy.
2. Use it as a natural sweetener in salad dressings. Whisk a spoonful into olive oil, vinegar, and a bit of mustard for a dressing that's naturally sweet without needing refined sugar. It also helps the dressing emulsify a little better.
3. Add it to marinades for grilled meats. Honey helps create that deep, caramelized crust when meat hits the grill. Try mixing it with soy sauce, garlic, and a splash of citrus, or swap in our Wildflower Hot Honey for a marinade with a little extra kick.
4. Stir it into homemade salad dressings for roasted vegetables. A light drizzle over roasted carrots, sweet potatoes, or brussels sprouts right before serving brings out their natural sweetness even more.
5. Spread it on warm biscuits or cornbread. This one might be the most Lowcountry use of all. Warm biscuits, a little butter, and a spoonful of raw local honey is about as simple and satisfying as it gets. For something a little different, try breaking off a piece of our raw Wildflower Honeycomb straight onto the biscuit.
However you use it, raw wildflower honey holds onto more of its natural enzymes and flavor compounds than heavily processed honey, so a little goes a long way in both taste and nutrition. See the full lineup in our shop.
